Battling real life pirates, preventing a nuclear war and real-life ghost stories – these are just some of the stories you’ll hear when the 2019 Phillip Island Festival of Stories (formerly the Phillip Island Literary Festival) opens its doors.
A fun filled event, celebrating our town’s history, local produce and all things fishing.
Our main event is the traditional Blessing of the Fleet. For lovers of seafood, visit the marquee to see fishing industry displays, filleting and cooking demonstrations, and taste some of Bass Strait’s finest fare.
From casting competitions, float tossing and deckie races cruise and face painting there’s plenty to entertain everyone. Featuring some of South Gippsland’s finest produce, our food and wine stalls will let you taste and take home some local treats.
Phillip Island’s iconic and beautiful coastline will form the backdrop to a unique event this Spring. The inaugural Phillip Island Running Festival is set to map an exciting and spectacular course for participants of all fitness levels ranging in distance from two kilometres up to an Ultra Marathon challenge.
The festival, to be held in September, will take runners through a variety of Phillip Island’s spectacular terrains. Organisers promise that most of the course will be off road and designed to showcase the natural beauty of Phillip Island’s beaches, coastline and woodlands.
Phillip Island Nature Parks is proud that the newly opened Penguin Parade visitor centre will set the stage for the start of the event and also play host to a festival at the finish of the event for runners, supporters and spectators to enjoy.
